INTRODUCTION
In today’s lot of countries are suffering from illiteracy, particularly advanced countries (Gao, F., & Rao, U. R. 1993). It is clear from the world atlas article 2017 that from the top twenty five illiterate countries Pakistan has the ranked 16 in illiterate countries and its literate ratio is 54.9% and globally South Sudan has declared as lowest literacy ratio that is twenty seven percent peoples literate. And the Togo country has ranked highest literacy ratio that is 60% literate (Philip, P., Hartley, J., Benington, J., & Simmons, M. 2019).The literacy rate used for Pakistan in a 2012 consent was 56%, which containstogether males and females from together rural and urban zones (Fair, C., & Hamza, A. 2016). It is a very low literacy rate, this means that nearly half of the country is uneducated and can contribute very little to financial development because the major contribution in that area is made through education. Literacy supports us to make sense of our lifestyle in this world. From the time we awaken to the time we go to sleep, we are continuously creating meaning of the world around us (Fauville, G., Strang, C.,Cannady, M. A., & Chen, Y. F. 2019).While illiteracy is defined as the incapability to simply read and write the message in every language , incapability to understand the all forms of communication. It is as the incapability in self-confidence and willingness to occupy with language to obtain. Illiteracy can create and interconnect meaning in all sides of daily living (Chireac, S. M., Francis, N., & McClure, J. 2019). It is a main problem all through the world. Anne-Marie Trammell stated that Universal 880 million adults have been considered as illiterate, they don’t have the minimal abilitiesrequired to function in society (Encyclopedia of Distance Learning, 2009). There are many cause which increase the illiteracy ratio day by day such as poverty, due to low income poor families avoid to send their kids in schools and they decided to make them labor as they earn to survive in this world ( Alfred, M. V., & Chlup, D. T. 2009).. Due to learning disabilities or slow learner adults are unable to understand the message of particular subject or topic. Due to abstract or un-conceptual study the learners face difficulties to understand the specific information. In our society gender inequality is major reason which impact on the literacy ratio and it increase the illiterate ratio, our society is male dominant, it gives importance to male instead of female. Mostly families in rural areas send their sons for giving education and make girls bound in four walls of the home. Pakistan has the ineffective educational plans which are reasons to drive the poor education system throughout the country, which results the ineffective academic performance and decreases the merit ratio throughout the country. Due to lack of schools in rural areas families face problems to educate their kids. In the Pakistan corruption is the big and bold reason which impose the highly negative impact in their social life, it also promotes the illiteracy because government hire the corrupt servants for their all organizations, but in schools there are those teachers who just earn the salary from the government and they never regular to their duties, they feel free from their responsibilities and have lack of skills and knowledge in particular field. Students come to school for learning but teachers remain gain absentees from their duty, from them such teachers are untrained, such have lack of knowledge, skills, and abilities to teach the students, these all are because of corruption and government still unaware from its responsibilities which are given by the public of country through the voting to choose their stupid person to drive the country. And government of Pakistan is not serious towards the education and not provide the perfect budget for the education of country, they just fill their pockets instead of spend for education (Roman, S. P. 2004).
The illiteracy promotes lot of effects on humans life style such
as, illiteracy rate increase the drug and alcohol abuse throughout the society,
in society it reduces the ratio of technological advancement, illiterate people
may not vote or not decide to choose the perfect person for voting who drive
the country effectively, this occurs due to lack of awareness and education.
The illiteracy ratio is increasing day by day which may have the capability to
ruined, diminish and weaken the society, it may impact on the individual’s
health, which occurs because of the unawareness of health and reasons to
increase the poor health (Memon 2019), it is also increase the rate of
unemployment in a society, it leads to problems in learning, it increases the
ratio of poverty in society due to unemployment. It increases the rates of
incarceration in society, it leads the poor economy of country, it badly
effects on the humans lifestyle and on society. There are some types of
illiteracy which are included agricultural illiteracy, it is knonw as the
inability to understand the agricultural information and failed in to produce
good crops. Other one is the computer illiteracy or known as technological
illiteracy, it means the inability to understand the basic functions of
computer and lack of knowledge and ability to operate the computer. Computer
illiterate not know that how to use this technology such as unable to turn
on/off the computer or simply unable to gives command or opens the files in
computers. Computer illiterate individuals increasingly the disabling quality
in the current society.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
In this technological era we cannot survive without reading, it is
the vital part of human beings life who needs such skills and abilities for the
improvement on personal and social level. Illiteracy means the incapability of
reading and writing which is harmful for both the society and individuals. The
lifestyle of illiterate individuals are negatively affect and their future is
threatened. Due to illiterate individuals in family who gives less or no
importance towards the education, this effects of illiteracy in the continuous
intergenerational communication. Such families have lowest financial standing
because of lower incomes and low quality jobs. Without literacy skills
individuals have less opportunities for effective jobs, because there is wide
gap between unemployment and employment rates among qualified and totally illiterate
peoples. The low self-esteem leads the generations to the isolation due to
illiteracy, illiteracy reduced the learning for lifelong and professional
development of individuals. Nowadays the illiterate parents who admit the sick
child in hospital and after the doctor’s medication they cannot follow the
instructions of doctor, it leads the child in the problems which pose impacts
on child’s health as well as family also faced the problems, than illiterate
peoples get long time to recover from
the slight illness. Lack of awareness they misuse the services and goods, also
face the problems in understanding the specific details and information’s. If
the state of Pakistan has great ratio of illiterate peoples, than it cannot
dream for the financial development due to lack of adequate, trained and
knowledgeable people. Also people face the problems in understanding the social
issues among societies due to low literacy individuals cannot participate in
community. Especially in rural areas the schools buildings are being
constructed for the adult literacy programs then people will take benefits from
the socially developed standard of living by this approach our nations will successfully
fight to reduce the poverty. As compared to other countries Pakistan has very
low literacy rate. There are many elements act as the causes for the high ratio
of illiterate persons in the country, such as lack of government funds for the
educational organizations. Another
reason is the curriculum of Pakistan is not innovative according to our
requirements which is taught in Pakistan’s educational institutes, it occurs
due to low quality of education in our country. Global wise the ratio of girls
in illiterate population is 61.9% because society do not give importance to the
girl’s education. By damaging and
avoiding the progression of illiteracy and in today’s emerging world it is very
essential for the females that put concentration on the improvement in
self-esteem, for the development of country we should allow the girls to
contribute to their societies. If illiteracy promotes continuously in the
society than it leads to heavy and disastrous consequences through lower incomes,
worse health and higher rates of imprisonment. It encourages the social impact,
the social impacts are profound when a person struggles with reading. The person who is incapable to read, it drive
him/her to have low self-esteem which leads to isolation or feel emotions such
as anxiety, fear, weak and shame. Illiteracy pose negative impacts from
generation to generation. Many children join the school for learning but they
don’t learn to read and write. When we break the cycle of illiteracy and
individuals learn to read and write than they have control on the way to
encourage themselves come out from the poverty, poor health, live the healthy
and effective lifestyle in society. When society break the progression of
poverty and illiteracy than every human will able to stun the boundaries of
prior generations.
