Claims about the effect of internet on social relationship and student’s character building. |
People are heavily using internet for interpersonal communication (send and receive e-mail, instant messages to containing with family and friends, playing games and visiting chat rooms), until now claims about the effect of internet on social relationship and student’s character building. As this is 21st century and usage of internet increasing day by day and it is also believed that the internet is our need which enhance the ease and efficiency of our work (Dutton, W. H., & Reisdorf, B. C. 2019). As among the student’s internet affectedly increasing and for students there is inappropriate content for students which poses huge concern for parents. In 21st century most of students now internet access at library, school, colleges, universities, and home, by using internet students spend much time in front of computer which suggest the impact of internet usage on students physical, social and mental development (Qi, J., Cao, Y., Niu, Z., Li, C., Yi, Y., & Cai, Z. 2019). It is good to know that internet has positive impact on students learning which is educational and social, but unfortunately students may not get only educational information, mostly students use it for several reasons including acquiring unnecessary information, communicating with people some time with unknown people, playing online games and visiting different websites which may harmful for students, which effects on students social relationship and interaction with families and friends (Yuan, Q. 2019, April). So, it is important to examine actual use of internet and how the internet changes student’s character in terms of social interaction and relationships. This study examines that how students waste their time in daily activities by visiting different unimportant and harmful websites. It is important to know that the internet has what impact on student’s character building. This research will be helpful for the curriculum developer, educational policy makers as well as education and literacy department to make effective curriculum and policy for more effective steps for implementing the educational policies.
