Important parts of magazines | Structure of Magazine |
Parts of a magazine are the front page, cover pages, table of contents, imprints, editor's letter, articles, and back cover. A magazine is a periodical content publication of articles and interviews, with thousands of creative ways to represent advertisements, candles, and information.
The magazine consists of
seven sections: cover, cover pages, table of contents, imprint, editor's
letter, articles, and back.
The complex page
This is the front page
of the magazine, so in some ways, it's the most important. It's never too early
to start thinking about what a good photo cover would look like. Most
editors use an image of a key feature that will be created inside the magazine.
Cover pages
They come after the
cover, they are usually the same material as the cover and are about 100%
advertising.
The second page of the cover is dedicated to advertising. This is the second most expensive ad page.
The third cover is once again safe for advertisers and the third most expensive advertising page in the magazine.
The last cover page is at the back of the magazine and is the most expensive advertising page.
Advertising
In addition to the price
of the magazine, the companies that sell it make money from advertising. The
ads are usually related to the theme of the magazine. If, for example, this is
a Formula 1 magazine, there may be advertisements for cars or motorcycles. They
usually occupy a large part of the number, in many cases up to 60 of the
magazine's content. They stand out for inspiring images in a full-color layout.
Ads are usually placed on odd-numbered pages (on the right) because the reader
becomes the first thing in his eyes. As a result, they may be bilateral.
This is a more amazing but more expensive form.
Contents / Index / Summary
After many pages of
announcements, the table of contents serves as an immediate breakdown of how
the magazine is organized. This is especially useful when the reader is
interested in the cover and wants to read more, to turn the content around, and
easily find the article they were looking for. The table of contents can be
designed with or without margins, but it is important to separate the content
elements so that the reader understands what the page number is. The title is
the title and will have a brief description of the title if you want to include
it. It is important to choose a good type in this section. In some cases,
the arrangement of this element can be really creative, including pictures or
illustrations and reading. There is very attractive typography.
Imprint / Partners / Authors
This is the part of the
magazine that is usually placed in the front of the book, although some
magazines keep it in the back. Imprint or "Masthead" is a list of all
the people who work on the magazine. From newsrooms to marketers, salespeople,
advertisers, editors, and key publishers who are producing magazines. The
design of this page is very simple and clean. The logo is usually placed at the
top of this page.
Editor's letter
This is the first editorial
page of the magazine. This is a welcome letter from the Editor-in-Chief
explaining the title of the article. It depends on the style of publication and
the journalistic voice of the editor. It mainly covers important topics, But
this magazine may also have some ideas on these topics in general. This is
usually a page that includes the message in it or an image from the publisher.
Articles
This is the largest part
of the magazine. There is no specific length for articles, and they can be
short and half a page long or long and cover up to ten pages. In fact, when a
magazine is organized, short and long articles appear. For example, a five-page
article may be followed by a two-page article instead of another five-page
article. This improves the reading rate of the magazine. Designs related to
these pages are where designers have the most freedom, although a certain style
of publishing must be followed. It is important to note that each article
should be clearly different from the other because the reader may be confused
if he does not know where one ends and the other begins.
Back
This section of the
magazine includes the rest of the material, short articles, news, listing,
remaining columns, and horoscope. Again, as at the beginning of the magazine, this
part of the magazine follows a strict structure and its design has hardly
changed. In general, so-called "classified" ads can be found here.
From 1/4 to 1/16 of a small page, small ads consist of these groups and are
placed on these pages. Depending on the nature of the magazine, the last page
is dedicated to a columnist, a short article, a short interview, or something
similar.
Others
Some magazines may be
included for free to engage readers. For example, computer or video game
magazines may include CDs with demo software/games. Cologne or sunglasses
fashion magazine samples; Healthy people offer sun cream and those who are
involved in literature or history bring mini-books on a particular topic.
