REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Physical education
provides a lot of benefits to students at the secondary level which contribute to
students becoming responsible adults and it gives the awareness and
importance of a healthy lifestyle to students. Physical education also gives awareness about the health of the human body, biomechanics, importance of
exercise, importance of sports activities, and physical and cognitive fitness (Macdonald, D., Kirk, D.,
& Braiuka, S. (1999).
For regular fitness activities, physical fitness is a key component of a healthy and active lifestyle. It helps to
maintain the fitness in students, the muscular strength, the digestive
processes is developed by it and also cardiovascular health is improved with
the help of regular fitness activities Corbin, Wikgren,
S. (2014).
Physical education also builds self-confidence, personality, character, and self-esteem, communication
skills among the students at the secondary level student. It develops motor
skills which help in improving the healthy body posture. Physical education
tells the students how physical health is important for you and it guides
the students in nutrition. Secondary level students feel stressed and they are
depressed because of curriculum, homework, assignments, projects, families, and
peer pressures. Participation in sports, entertaining activities, or other
practices of physical fitness provides a way of stress relief (Strong, Malina, Rowland, T. (2005).
Physical education provides huge benefits to students
which improves the students’ academic performance and their physical health. The
risk of obesity among students is well-known as the deficiency of physical
activities, which is caused by low awareness of physical education.
The U.S Health department recommends 60 minutes of daily physical activity for
the aged 6 – 17 years individuals, research shows that from childhood to
adulthood behavior and habits are established, and daily physical activities have the following benefits which tell us that physical education as it develops strong
bones, the strength is improved by it, it decreases the strain among students. It
lessens the risk of obesity and helps to control the weight, it condenses the
depression and also there are a lot of other benefits which is provided by the
daily physical activities. The positive effects on learning is shown by
physical education, as it increases concentration in class, and grades and behavior
will be better with the help of it (Taras, H.
2005).
Physical education is promoted with the help of educators
both inside and outside the class as follows, include class-based physical
activities, Boost physical activities throughout recess, physical education
taught by trained teachers to students, school organize sports events and
provide facilities for sport, involve the community in providing physical
activities to students (Baranowski, Seefeldt, V. 1997).
Physical education is the fundamental part of the total
education of every student from childhood to adulthood. Physical education

physical and mental health, areas of the subject are supported by it, it facilitates the students to develop
responsibilities of fitness and health. Judgment in moral development,
leadership, cooperation, and behavior of students (O'Dea, J. A. 2003).
CONCLUSION
The result of this study is very
important and it is concluded that due to a lack of awareness about physical
education in Sindh schools students are facing huge problems in
their mental and physical health. Lack of physical activities in secondary
schools has clearly shown us the risk factor of harmful disease on student’s
health. Due to a lack of physical education students feel less active and less
fit which imposes negative effects on the physical health as well as mental health
of secondary school students. Students are facing anxiety, upset, and stress by
studying only the science curriculum instead of physical education. Physical
inactivity may increase the risk of harmful diseases like cancer, blood pressure, etc. and students get bored by only studying instead of extra co-curricular
activities, they get stress which also imposes a bad impact on their academic
performance, and students do not get interested in the learning process. Following are
the recommendations are made by research Physical education awareness should be
provided to secondary schools students, physical training facilities should be
provided to them, extra-curricular activities like sports events should be organized in secondary schools as students get interested in both learning and
playing, physical training should be performed every day in secondary schools
students, students should participate in physical education activities in
schools day as well as outside of the schools.
