Eyes are a great gift of nature, without which life is dark. Eye light, sight, and sight are called 'vision'. Vision is the most important thing in the human senses, so the eyes must be protected so that the eyes are always sharp. In our country, due to a lack of proper awareness about eye diseases, millions of people suffer from visual impairment from childhood, while thousands suffer from complex eye diseases and lose their eyesight. If the child is not performing well in studies, one of the reasons may be poor eyesight.

In less than a decade, the rate of cataracts in children between the ages of 13 and 16 has almost doubled, according to a study by UK-based eye care company Screensaver Options. It is caused by pressure on the eyes, blurred vision, and impaired vision. Researchers say that in 2018, 35% of people between the ages of 13 and 16 needed glasses, compared to 20% in 2012. The glasses were mostly worn by British children who spent 26 hours a week in front of electronic screens, including televisions.

The company's ophthalmologist says, "Children's eyes continue to develop, and their vision changes until early adolescence. As time goes on, near or far vision is affected, with no symptoms." The children do not know and the parents do not know, so it is very important to keep checking the eyes from time to time.

Screen effects

In the past, children only watched TV at certain times. But with the advent of mobile phones and tablets, children's eyes are constantly on the screen, making it almost impossible to move away, as school education has also been in need of gadgets and screens since the 19th century. In the past, children were kept away from the TV so that their eyesight would not be affected, but today we have put the screen in the hands of children themselves.

"In recent years, doctors have seen more cases of glaucoma and retinal myopathy, and the biggest reason is that people's screen time I have increased. This type of disorder used to be found in older people, ie people over 60 years of age, but now people are coming back with these conditions after reaching the age of 30 years. That number has risen sharply in the last three to five years because people do not understand the disadvantages of mobile phones and iPads. ”

Today's children are preoccupied with electronic devices for most of their lives. Young children have sensitive eyes, they use mobile phones closely, which increases the risk of their eyesight is affected. According to experts, as you get older, your eye lens filter starts to work, but this is not the case in children, due to which the blue light of the mobile phone goes to the back of their eye.

Researchers are still in the early stages of understanding the long-term effects of prescreens on children, says Dr. Ryan Parker, an optometrist, and director of vocational education at the American eyewear company Acelor. According to Dr. Parker, the blue light of the mobile phone is damaging the retina and over time it is causing distant vision. Research has shown that excessive use of screens also affects sleep routines and overall brain development.

Vision protection tips

In a survey, when parents were asked if they had their children's eyes examined regularly, more than 73% of parents said they had never taken their child for an eye test. If you spend a lot of time using the computer or are so focused on anything that you forget to blink, your eyes may get tired, they may have pain or they may look blurred. According to experts, whether you are using a computer or a mobile phone, adopt the principle of 20-20-20. Every 20 minutes, remove your eyes from the screen and look in front of you for 20 seconds up to 20 feet. This will put less pressure on your eyes. As a parent, never give your children a mobile phone until they are 2 years old. Even then, use mobile phones from a distance for a very limited time, as children younger than this can be more exposed to radiation from mobile phones. If children between the ages of 7 and 16 must use a mobile phone or tablet Try to use them only when children need them.
