Delivering instructions is an art, just like an artist struggles for creativity and captivation in his/her work to paint the canvas with the help of brush strokes. It’s about weaving a tapestry of understanding. Here I am going to explore the brush strokes of communication that transform a teacher into an artist, making each lesson like a really interesting painting that everyone can enjoy and learn from. The core of “teaching as an art” form for delivering instructions effectively, a good teacher must have communication skills to deliver the information within the classroom, where the brush strokes are the words and the canvas is the mind of eager learners. Delivering instruction is a form of communication just like a bridge that connects the reservoir of knowledge with the seekers of understanding. For making this bridge strong and trustworthy a teacher must own healthy and strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills which includes basic presentation skills such as: voice, diction, pace, tone, verbal tics and fillers; body language for instance: eye contact, posture, gestures, smile, use of space, humor; amount of content; classroom management; handling questions; and handling mistakes. These all collectively contribute to the effectiveness of instruction so, a teacher must exercise language with precision, ensuring that the intended message echoes with the diverse minds seated in the classroom. The skilled teacher can be identified by the communication style as the classroom is a diverse place where students belong from distinct learning styles with cognitive differences. Teachers’ communication should be flexible and capable of providing the spectrum of individual needs. Teachers’ adaptability plays a vital role in nurturing an inclusive and engaging learning environment. A teacher should ensure the simplification of complex concepts for better understanding or inspirational speech to challenge advanced learners. A good teacher can set an active stage of the classroom environment via communication where students feel seen, heard, and valued. This not only works for the transmission of information but establishes a positive rapport with young learners. It brings up engagement, sparks curiosity, and nurtures a love for learning. As the artist exercises his/her brush to create a captivating masterpiece, the teacher should employ words and gestures to craft a vibrant educational display within the classroom.
